Decipher A Sewing Pattern

Students will discover the options available when choosing a pattern, and how to effectively select the correct size, the appropriate fabric, notions and trims. Students will learn how to decipher common sewing terminology, abbreviations and symbols found in a pattern. Students will work with the instructor as they decide which pattern pieces are needed, and how to lay them out on the fabric. Students will learn ways to transfer vital information from the pattern onto the fabric. Students will observe and engage with the instructor during the various steps involved to prepare to sew a garment and learn plenty of tips and tricks and valuable resources along the way. At the end of this class, students will feel more confident about selecting a pattern and starting their first project. Students will work with a pattern provided by the instructor. This is a non-sewing course; sewing experience is not necessary.
