The legal rights of Americans with disabilities have greatly expanded in the last 50 years. Though important laws have been enacted, millions of people continue to face unemployment and isolation. This course will discuss the following: legal definition of disability, what is means to have a "reasonable accommodation", rights of students with disabilities and their parents, and why laws concerning mental disabilities are often controversial.
