“Pirates in the Chesapeake” tells the stories of the pirates and privateers who cruised the waters of the Chesapeake Bay during the early history of the United States. The course begins by relating the history of colonial British America, then continues to the history of piracy. Specific topics include the Golden Age of Piracy and the use of privateers during wartime. The class discusses the pirates who roamed the bay and their impact on the Chesapeake region.
