Frederick History 202 -1700s & 1800s

This course is a continuation of Chris Haugh's Frederick History 101 class taught in fall 2025. Chris returns with Frederick History 202, a perfect complement, and fitting follow-up encore. Frederick 202 (the 1700s & 1800s) class will be an all-day class, broke into a morning and afternoon session where discussion will center on Frederick in the latter Colonial Period of the 1700s, and Federal, Antebellum, and Gilded Age periods of the 1800s. Here, things will be slowed down a bit (from the 101 class) for more in-depth inspection and discussion of specific notable events, places and individuals that shaped the Frederick landscape we have today. This course will incorporate video clips from Haugh's 1995 documentary titled "Frederick Town." Best of all, the course will feature a few special guest historians having "one on one" talks with Chris on specific aspects of our rich history. There will be a 1-hour lunch break during this class.
