Frederick County in the American Revolution - Mobile Workshop

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about local connections to “the American Revolution” during the 250th commemoration of this legendary conflict. July 4th marks the signing of the Declaration of Independence, but the war would rage on until its final, and formal, conclusion with the Treaty of Paris in 1783. Award-winning researcher/documentarian Chris Haugh will explain the effects of the Revolutionary War on the citizenry of Frederick. He will also introduce students to some of the brave individuals who joined the fight against enemy powers. Lastly, we will examine the legacy of the Revolution on the City of Frederick and Frederick County. We will also have an opportunity to visit sites such as Catoctin Furnace, Rose Hill Manor Downtown Frederick, the Hessian Barracks, and Mount Olivet Cemetery. Lunch will be on your own at a spot that offers several choices. Participants should expect to walk on trails, sidewalks and in a cemetery that may have uneven surfaces. We may walk up to 2 miles throughout the day.
