Music Fundamentals I is an engaging introduction to music theory and ear training designed for students ages 11–15. This course develops essential musical literacy and listening skills, providing a strong foundation for students who sing, play an instrument, or are beginning their musical studies.

Through a combination of guided instruction, listening exercises, and applied practice, students will explore the structure and language of music. They will build proficiency in reading and writing music in both treble and bass clef, develop the ability to identify fundamental musical elements by ear, and gain an understanding of major and minor key signatures. In addition, students will be introduced to basic harmonic concepts, learning to analyze and construct music using diatonic harmony.

These foundational skills support success in ensembles and private instruction while preparing students for more advanced study in music. This course is well-suited for both beginners and developing musicians seeking to strengthen their overall musicianship.
