Learn the basic conversational skills used in American Sign Language. Topics include basic grammar structure related to the exchange of personal information, introductions, negotiation with the environment, calendar, commands, and basic survival signs through demonstration and practice. This course may use a textbook or a digital curriculum platform.

Please read:  There is an optional purchase of the digital curriculum platform True+Way. Students will learn more about this platform on the first day of class including how to purchase it, how it works, and how to use it as a supplemental curriculum. This Structured Remote Course is entirely online. The course does meet as a real-time online session during the scheduled class time. This course is offered in an online format only. Students must be able to access the course from their own computer/tablet using a link that will be emailed at least one business day prior to the course start. FCC will not be able to provide individual technical support to students during the class sessions. Students experiencing difficulties and unable to access the course should contact the program office at PersonalEnrichment@frederick.edu. Only students who have paid the course fee and are officially on the class roster, may join the online class session.
