Open to Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS) high school juniors and seniors, Biotechnology Career Programs offer hands-on training and real-world experiences to students interested in pursuing a biotechnology career.
Free Biotechnology Internship Program • FCPS Juniors & Seniors
- Participate in an internship that could lead to high-wage, high-skill, in-demand careers in the biotech industry.
- Earn industry recognized credentialing
- Earn two high school credits that count toward high school attendance and graduation
- Attend your home high school in the morning and FCC in the afternoon
- BIOT 101 - Biotechnology and Society (3 credits)
- BIOT 103 - Basic Lab Techniques (1 credit)
- INTR 102 - Internship (2 credits)
- Gain internship experience at the Frederick Innovative Technology Center, Inc. (FITCI), a business incubator and accelerator designed to cultivate entrepreneurship
After school graduation, participants may continue to a full-time registered apprenticeship through FCC which covers the cost of an associate degree and leads to employment in the biotech industry.

Dual Enrollment • FCPS Juniors & Seniors
Earn your high school diploma and college credits simultaneously. Get a head start on your college education through the Dual Enrollment program. FCPS students can start taking college classes at FCC towards earning a biotechnology degree while still in high school. Frederick County Public School students may receive free tuition through Dual Enrollment at FCC for all courses.

Biotech Boot Camp
No Cost | No Experience Required
The Biotech Boot Camp is a free, 4-week training program designed to help jobseekers gain the fundamental skills necessary to enter Frederick’s growing biotech industry. The program is intended for both first-time and experienced workers looking for a new career pathway. Following the successful completion of the course, program participants will be guaranteed an interview with local/regional biotech companies.
Program Requirements
- Be 18 years of age or older
- Have reliable transportation
- Attend the full program
- Be available to work full time following the training and interview process
Boot Camp Schedule
- Monday through Thursday | July 2025
- Morning Class Option: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- Afternoon Class Option: 4:00 to 8:00 p.m.

- In-person classes are held at Frederick Community College main campus.
- There is no cost to participate in this Biotech Boot Camp training program.
