Answering interview questions on Frederick County's tourism website, VisitFrederick.org, Institute Manager Elizabeth DeRose begins by describing the College restaurant. "First and foremost, 200 Monroe Restaurant is a learning lab classroom for students in the Hospitality, Culinary and Tourism Institute (HCTI) program at Frederick Community College, where our dining guests get to be a part of a unique class. This semester-long course is the final step in the program where our students get to put all their skills and knowledge to the test in an open-kitchen restaurant setting..." Read more

Lifelong Learning, ILR55+ & Thrive Registration Opens August 1

Mark your calendars! Lifelong Learning, ILR55+ and Thrive fall registration opens on Monday, August 1. Lifelong Learning at Frederick Community College offers unique events and experiences for inquisitive minds with a focus on personal enrichment, artistic growth, and self-discovery. The Institute for Learning in Retirement (ILR 55+) is Frederick County’s premier knowledge and discovery destination for adults age 55 and older. ILR 55+ classes are available on campus, off campus and online. And Thrive features a variety of classes for cognitively and developmentally disabled people as well as those who choose to join them.

HCTI Named Top 10 School for Culinary Students

The Hospitality, Culinary & Tourism Institute at Frederick Community College has again earned honors as one of the Top Schools for Culinary Students in the country. Using data from the latest College Scorecard release by the Department of Education, Katom.com recently compiled the 2022 list of the best culinary schools based on a variety of factors, such as cost and employment rate as well as program options, early career income, and more. Institutions were also ranked according to level of program flexibility and affordable rate while still providing a strong education leading to job placement and financial success. Learn more >>

Youth Programs Summer Registration

Check out all-new programs and classic summer favorites at FCC this summer. Kids and teens are invited to weekly morning and afternoon programs weekdays now through early August at Frederick Community College. Get ready to perform amazing science experiments, master robotics, cook up cool new recipes, challenge the laws of physics, join our new blacklight theater, design your own video game, master digital photography, and more! Frederick Community College Covid-19 Protocols

We remain committed to following guidelines and recommendations from health agency experts, including the CDC and the Frederick County Health Department. All areas of the College are open as normally scheduled. Masks are optional in indoor spaces on the Frederick Community College main campus and Monroe Center, with some exceptions. 200 Monroe Receives Positive Accolades, Again!

OpenTable diners voted 200 Monroe as one of the best around in 2021. Led by the executive chef and FCC Hospitality, Culinary, and Tourism Institute (HCTI) instructors, the restaurant has also received additional positive accolades as one of only two restaurants to receive a five-star review by Frederick News-Post food critics as well. 200 Monroe continues to be named to numerous OpenTable Diners’ Choice lists, including the best overall, best value, fit for foodies, great for lunch, and best food lists. HCTI Earns ACFEF Postsecondary Accreditation

Accredited by The American Culinary Federation Education Foundation (ACFEF) Accrediting Commission, the Hospitality, Culinary & Tourism Institute (HCTI) at Frederick Community College has demonstrated the understanding of and compliance with ACFEF-accredited standards for Program Eligibility, Program Mission and Goals, Organization and Administration, Faculty and Staff, Curriculum, Facilities, Student Services, and Program Assessment. Self-Service Feature Available to Manage Your Schedule Online 

We know, life happens. Plans change. And sometimes those changes include the need to cancel a class registration. You can do this online with our self-service cancellation feature, or the "self-drop" option. Available on select classes up to 7 days prior to the class start date, this option is accessible from your account dashboard. After signing into your account, scroll down and click "Go To My Dashboard". Click on the green drop down Menu bar on the left and click Cancel to display classes eligible for this service.
