Capture the likeness of a person through this beginner-friendly portrait drawing class. This course introduces the essential concepts and techniques of traditional portrait drawing. You’ll learn about facial proportions, composition, and the importance of value and tone while exploring a variety of materials such as charcoal, graphite, and pastel. This class also offers a brief overview of the history of portraiture, tips for success, and common mistakes to avoid, helping you develop your skills and refine your technique. Drawing will be done from references in lieu of a live model. Whether you're new to drawing or looking to enhance your abilities, this course will equip you with the skills and confidence to create portraits with greater realism. This course is a skills-based course. Whether or not you complete an entire project during the class will depend on your level of skill. All supplies are included.
