FCC Career Exploration Open House & Workshop
December 3 • 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. • Monroe Center • 200 Monroe Ave
Discover a variety of affordable career training programs designed to prepare you for employment in high demand industries. Meet our program staff, review upcoming courses, and discover tuition assistance and scholarship opportunities. If you're not sure which career path to pursue, you can participate in our 30-minute workshop to explore various careers based upon your interests and skills. 2024 Holiday Gingerbread Display
HCTI instructor Chef Mark Mills, Chef Missy Miller, FCPS CTC Architecture / CAD / Engineering Instructor Phil Arnold, and Ginger's Breadboys founder, Virginia Bramante, are leading students in the 2024 Gingerbread Display to envision, design, construct, and assemble/decorate a gingerbread display. The final works of art, with the theme of National Mall iconic buildings and statues, will be unveiled on December 9 at 4:30 p.m. in the Willard InterContinental Hotel in Washington, D.C. Come down to support our students and see this incredible display in person! Fall 2024 Food Business Entrepreneurship Winners!
Students recently presented new business concepts to local industry and community partner judges, including Katie Stevens (Frederick County Office of Economic Development), Brett Novick (Owner/Founder Boxcar Burgers), Terri Rowe (Owner/Founder of Maryland Bakes), and Ray Maldo (FCC Apprenticeship Recruiter). First-place winner Nicole Scott received a Maryland Bakes six-month shared kitchen subscription and business mentoring from owner/founder Terri Rowe; second-place winner Brandy Gurbal was awarded a $1,000 FCC Foundation Culinary Competition Scholarship; third-place winner Jamie Brown received a $500 cash award sponsored by FoodPro; and fourth-place winner Onella St Hilaire was awarded a $500 cash award sponsored by Wegmans. Congratulations to the winners and thank you to all who participated in the event!

Frederick Community College (FCC) invites you to enjoy a gourmet dinner prepared and served by our talented Hospitality, Culinary & Tourism students at 200 Monroe Restaurant, recipient of the Diner's Choice Award for six consecutive years! A capstone learning experience for our students, 200 Monroe Restaurant welcomes guests to enjoy a first course, entree, and freshly baked dessert made by our baking and pastry students. Reservations are required. Special Notice | Monroe Avenue Construction Continues
When going to the Monroe Center at 200 Monroe Avenue in Frederick, be sure to use the Monroe Center South Entrance as a section of Monroe Avenue continues to be under construction in this area at this time. The stretch of inaccessible road currently begins at Monocacy Boulevard and continues to 700 feet north of Highland Street. Detour signage is in place. Visit Google maps for directions if needed and contact us if you have questions.
