Discover past industries that made Frederick the booming town that it is today. In this second offering of this course, we’ll learn about the background and significance of Frederick’s iron and aluminum, dairy, and agriculture industries; clocks and furniture companies; and bakeries that flourished in Frederick. We’ll also cover specific businesses like Frederick Brick Works, the Everedy Company, and the Oxe Fiber Company. Discover how and why these industries and companies made Frederick County such an important place in Maryland and how they contributed to and benefitted from the development of transportation in the area. This course is a continuation of the course that was offered in Summer ’24. All new content will be presented. Former students and new students are welcome to join.
