This course will focus on events, history, people, and expression as it relates to artistic culture around the world. Examine the curious world of art theft. Many thieves have stolen famous paintings and jewels despite museums having guards and cameras. We’ll explore who does it, why they do it, and what happens to the art they steal including how it gets sold even when it is a well-known piece. Learn about the bizarre stories of how some of the most famous art in the world has been stolen and how some of it has been recovered.
