This course provides an in-depth exploration of the essential aspects of poultry management, from understanding breed characteristics to fostering sustainable practices. Students will develop a comprehensive understanding of poultry breeds, their backgrounds, and intended uses. The course will also cover critical considerations in poultry housing, protection, and predator management. Food sources for poultry including feed ingredients will be discussed. Practical care strategies will be emphasized to help students recognize and prevent common injuries, illnesses, and diseases in their flock. Students will also learn how to generate income through poultry management, including harvesting as a food source. This course is ideal for both beginner and experienced poultry keepers looking to enhance their knowledge and ensure the success and sustainability of their flock.
