Travel back to 1865 Washington. During our bus ride into DC, we'll talk about the plot to assassinate Abraham Lincoln and how it grew out of a plan to abduct the President and hold him as a pawn to negotiate the release of Confederate prisoners of war. We’ll drive by sites made relevant by the Civil War including John Wilkes Booth’s house and the famed Surratt Boarding House where the fatal plot was formed. We’ll then head to Ford's Theatre and tour the museum. You’ll see the faces of the conspirators, and important artifacts, including the most valuable gun in history. Proceeding up to the balcony level, we'll be treated to a presentation by one of the National Park Service rangers. Then head across the street to the Petersen boarding house where President died after the fatal shot. A boxed sandwich lunch is included in the fee. Moderate walking is expected both inside the museum and outside for up to 3 blocks. All areas are accessible to individuals with limited disabilities.
