Presents the advanced skills used in American Sign Language. Includes vocabulary and grammar related to the exchange of storytelling, ASL idioms, analyzing ASL concepts, and more complicated ASL skills. This is the last of a five-semester ASL sequence. Skills developed from previous courses allow students to share personal and biographical stories and retell stories with simple plots, such as children's stories. Students will increase their understanding of a competence in using conversational strategies and culturally appropriate interaction skills. Students will be required to attend tutoring sessions (15 hours) beyond the scheduled class times.

Please read:  This course will meet on campus in an in-person environment. This class is co-listed with American Sign Language V, ASLS225-1, 1062. This class is located at the Main Campus, Linganore Hall (L Building), room L-203. Pre-reqs for this course include Grade of B or better in ASLS224 (formerly ASLS202) or FOR432. Please check the FCC Bookstore for required textbooks. Each section will include both credit and continuing education students. The expectations for attendance, participation, and effort are the same for all students. The course will be graded for all students. Students will be required to sign into Blackboard to access instructor information, course orientation, and learning materials. Registration will close one week prior to the class start date.
