This interactive lecture and discussion forum examines aspects of democracy in contemporary American society. We’ll examine constitutional principles in the light of such issues as equality, diversity, immigration, terrorism, partisanship, political ideologies, education, interpreting history, science and critical thinking, health care, the social safety net, civic responsibility, and the future of American democracy. We will review the statistics, present a breadth of viewpoints, and discuss ways to educate the public about civic involvement.
