Jamestown: The Colony that Almost Wasn't tells the story of Great Britain's first permanent colony in North America from its inception in 1607 until the first meeting of the General Assembly in 1619. The course relates the trials of the first settlers and the fateful ship wreck that would save the colony through the eyes of a cast of characters that include Captain John Smith. The course concludes with a discussion about the current research efforts at the James Fort site by "Jamestown Rediscovery" archeologists to reclaim the colony's past.
