For the second installment of this series, Juliana Lufkin takes you on a journey to 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. Students will research and discuss the influence of early science fiction on modern inventions, such as the submarine and the helicopter. Excerpts of The Forbidden Island will also be read. Materials required - “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” by Jules Verne, and “The Forbidden Island” by Jules Verne, any editions.
