This course looks at the formation of the political ideals and values that influence American Politics. We will begin by examining the Declaration of Independence and the debates surrounding the Constitution, explore the origins and impact of American Exceptionalism and the American Dream, and conclude with a look at how the Great Depression and New Deal transformed the relationship between economic security and life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
