This unique non-credit course was developed for adults with developmental disabilities to support their ability to function more independently at home, at work, and in the community. Explore a fascinating language that requires your whole body! Through use of online instruction, movement, mime, and improvisation, you will learn the manual alphabet, how to count to 100 with one hand, colors, names of family members, and how to introduce yourself in American Sign Language (ASL). You will also explore topics in deafness and deaf culture. Materials needed for this class include a 3-ring binder or a folder. All supplies will be the responsibility of the student, except for vocabulary packets, which will be distributed by mail or by organized student pick-up (TBD).
