This class is designed to study the foundations of jazz theory, harmony, improvisation, and historical context of the songs present. The mission of the ensemble is to highlight prominent jazz composers and significant stylistic period, providing the performers and the audience a breadth of repertoire. Themed concerts play an important role in the bands programming. Students will learn 10 to 15 songs presented and rehearse during the semester. All students will perform the final concert at the end of the semester.

Please read:  Students need to bring their own instruments and all accessories. Drums, amplifiers will be available to guitarists and bassists. Students must be able to print out music that will be sent by email to them. This class is co-listed with MUSC119-C and MUSC219-C.
