In the second installment of this literature-based study, we’ll continue on to read “Gulliver’s Travels” (Jonathan Swift). Students will discuss the social and political climate in Great Britain at the time, as well as the religious schism between England and Ireland. The assignment for this course will be a 5-week fictional journal, describing adventures, trials, and tribulations that the student faces as they travel to the destination of their choice.  Materials needed for this class include Gulliver’s Travels by Jonathan Swift (any edition, unabridged). Students are responsible for acquiring their own books.
