With the focus on hand building, learn the ancient techniques of slab, coil, and pinch pot methods to create one-of-a-kind functional and decorative clay pieces. Research the historical significance of the art you are learning about. Combining your imagination with the tools and materials provided, you’ll build three-dimensional projects like bowls, vases, sculpture creatures, and Ugly Face jugs. Students will be encouraged to work at their own pace. Items will be fired and ready for pick-up approximately four weeks after the end of the class, based on the college ceramic studio kiln availability.
