Explore the art style of Expressionism, which originated in the 20th century as a modern movement depicting emotions and unique perspectives from the individual. We will discuss, analyze, and interpret both European and American paintings from this time period focusing on works by Edvard Munch, Franz Marc, Willem de Kooning, Robert Motherwell, and Grace Hartigan. We will explore the origins of this art movement from the different schools, influences, and historical inspirations that brought about this fascinating art period.
