This series focuses on a famous person who has visited or lived in Frederick. We'll learn interesting facts and trivia about the person and their time in Frederick.  This lecture will focus on Frederick history as seen through the eyes of two diary writers, Jacob Englebrecht and Catherine Susannah Thomas Markell. Jacob Englebrecht was a beloved mayor who kept records of informative and notable events happening in Frederick from 1819 to 1878. He gave us a picture of life in Frederick with his colorful and sometimes humorous entries. Catherine Susannah Thomas Markell; entries teach us about her experience as a woman during the Civil War.
