While special operations have been used extensively since 9/11 in the war on terror, U.S. special operations have a long history in American wars and conflicts. This course will focus on the history of special units and tactics through WW II and will explore the successes and failures of these operations throughout US military history including the Barbary Pirates, Mexican-American War, and the Indian and Philippine – American Wars.
