Claire McCardell was an American fashion designer who grew up in Frederick, Maryland and rose to international prominence in the world of fashion design. She is credited with the development of American sportswear and pockets in casual dresses. Learn how her designs radically altered how women dressed for casual daily activities. During the last class, students will take a field trip to the Historical Society of Frederick County to have an exclusive peak at McCardell's personal papers and designs.
