Church membership has been declining in recent decades. Younger generations are more likely to be secular, agnostic, or atheist than their parents. Sigmund Freud and other notable scientists have claimed that humanity would eventually outgrow the need for religion as scientific knowledge, literacy, and critical thinking become widespread. But is this really the case? We’ll explore how and why humans are religious, the role religion plays in human life, and the question of whether we’re outgrowing our need for faith.
