Course number : ILR882   ID : 27272    Section Number : 1
« back to classes page
Spend a day exploring The National Museum of African American History and Culture, the only national museum devoted exclusively to the documentation of African American life, history, and culture. It was established by an Act of Congress in 2003, following decades of efforts to promote and highlight the contributions of African Americans. This tour is a drop and go tour. Though a trip leader will be present, there will be no ILR tour guide offering commentary while on the bus. Touring the museum will be at your own pace. Lunch will also be on your own at the Sweet Home Café located within the museum. This café showcases the rich culture and history of the African American people with traditional, authentic offerings as well as present-day food traditions. This tour involves moderate walking and standing up to one mile inside the museum.
