Please refer to the program email sent before class for details on the required gear. Each State may have different motorcycle licensing requirements from that of Maryland. If a student's driver's license was issued in a State other than Maryland, it is the student's responsibility to verify that these Maryland State Approved Courses meet the student's state's requirements to receive a motorcycle license. Participation requires reading and listening in English. For those seeking to improve their English language skills, FCC offers a complete program of English as a Second Language (ESL). Visit frederick.edu/ESL to learn more. Completion of the five-hour online eCourse is required before the first day of in-person instruction. Be sure to use a reliable email address during the registration process (and then check it often*) as instructions and the link to access this course will be provided approximately two weeks prior to your first in-person instruction date. If the email doesn't arrive within this timeframe, email our team at motorcycle@frederick.edu with any questions. *Including your spam folder if it doesn't show up in your in-box. An optional digital Basic Rider Course Rider Handbook is available for purchase (in both English and Spanish.) While not required for this course, it provides a solid knowledge base for a novice riders and serves as a reference for lifelong learning.Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) approved Motorcycle Safety courses are now enrolling. Training is provided by certified MVA and Motorcycle Safety Foundation instructors.
Upon successful completion, individuals with a Maryland driver’s license will have course completion information submitted directly to the MVA, indicating MVA requirements have been met for a Class "M" license. Information typically appears within two business days in an MVA account. An appointment must then be made with a full-service MVA office to update a license within 6 months of completion or the course will need to be taken again.
