Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) approved Motorcycle Safety courses are now enrolling. Training is provided by certified MVA and Motorcycle Safety Foundation instructors. Participants must bring required riding gear including DOT compliant helmet, full-fingered gloves and eye protection. Each State may have different motorcycle licensing requirements from that of Maryland. If a student's driver's license was issued in a State other than Maryland, it is the student's responsibility to verify that these Maryland State Approved Courses meet the student's state's requirements to receive a motorcycle license. Completion of the five-hour online eCourse is required before the first day of in-person instruction. Be sure to use a reliable email address during the registration process (and then check it often*) as instructions and the link to access this course will be provided approximately two weeks prior to your first in-person instruction date. If the email doesn't arrive within this timeframe, email our team at motorcycle@frederick.edu with any questions. *Including your spam folder if it doesn't show up in your in-box.
Upon successful completion, individuals with a Maryland driver’s license will have course completion information submitted directly to the MVA, indicating MVA requirements have been met for a Class "M" license. Information typically appears within two business days in an MVA account. An appointment must then be made with a full-service MVA office to update a license within 6 months of completion or the course will need to be taken again.
