Join the growing biotechnology industry in Frederick County! Due to an ever-increasing demand for biological and medical research, as well as local legislation in support of biotech developments, career opportunities are multiplying throughout the industry with nearly 10% employment growth projected through 2023. To prepare you for success in this growing field, FCC provides expert-led instruction, in-depth knowledge, and essential skills for employment and career advancement in the biotechnology industry. Programs are designed for students to gain real-world experience through partnerships with local biotech companies, including Kite Pharma, Lonza, VaLogic, and Texcell.

Note for FCPS High School Students
Frederick County Public School students may receive free tuition through Dual Enrollment at FCC for all courses.  Fee and book scholarships may be available for select programs. Students should speak with their high school counselor first if they plan to enroll in an FCC workforce development course or program.

From high school internships and continuing education classes to workforce training, apprenticeships, and academic pathways, FCC programs deliver hands-on training and valuable experience for a rewarding career. Registration is going on now with classes available in a variety of learning formats.

Biotech Boot Camp

No Cost | No experience required
The Biotech Boot Camp is a free, 4-week, training program designed to help jobseekers gain the fundamental skills necessary to enter Frederick’s growing biotech industry. The program is intended for both first-time and experienced workers looking for a new career pathway. Following the successful completion of the course, program participants will be guaranteed an interview with local/regional biotech companies.

Program Requirements
Participants must be
• 18 years of age or older.
• have reliable transportation.
• available to attend the full training course from July 15 to August 9, 2024.
• available for full-time work following the training and interview process.

Boot Camp Schedule
• Dates: July 15, 2024 to August 9, 2024
• Days: Monday through Thursday
Morning Class Option: 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Afternoon Class Option: 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Location

Classes will be held in-person at Frederick Community College on the Main Campus.

Cost
There is no cost to participate in this Biotech Boot Camp training program.
